Creativity.
If you're anything like me, you blame a lot of your unproductive days on the "lack of creativity, motivation and/or inspiration".
Those three things go together well. If you're inspired, you are more motivated to create. If you're motivated, you may create and thus inspire yourself and others.
But what happens when you're not inspired? Perhaps you don't feel creative and perhaps you don't feel motivated. Do you slouch the day away on the couch? Do you aimlessly twiddle your thumbs? Do you spend hours looking out the window in hope that a giant sign saying "INSPIRATION HERE" might appear?
Do you want inspiration for creating stuff? Do you want creativity?
Of course, there is no sure-fire way of being creative and inspired, but several things help.
Here are a few ideas you can try:
1) Go outside.

I understand that not everyone has access to lakes or some exotic mountains in their backyard. However, sometimes just going outside can freshen your mind and get your gears turning again. Look at the things around you, whether that is an old dirt road, a busy freeway, neighborhood houses, or anything in between (or all three!). Perhaps look for something you have never noticed before. Look for something that has a nice texture, color, or shape. Think about the scents in the air. Think about the temperature. Also, getting some sun and allowing the outdoors to surround you with...outdoorsy things can be good for your health.
2) Listen to music

I mean just look at this generic stock photo! Doesn't she look like she's enjoying herself?
Perhaps listen to music you've never heard before. A new artist, a new song, or a new genre. Or if you'd rather listen to something you are familiar with, maybe try finding something you've never noticed before. Pick out what you like and what you don't like. Try to detect and understand the feelings that the singer or instrumentalist is conveying. Try to place yourself in the sounds and really listen. Music can also change your moods, so you can listen to music before you, say, write a sad story to help you get in the right mindset.
3) Colors!

Colors are a great way to get inspired. Look at the colors around you (or pull them up on a computer screen) and assign them moods or feelings. With each color, see if you can trigger some story from your memory. See which colors you find most "relatable" and which colors "describe" you best. Maybe try to see if you can explain why you, or people you know, have favorite colors.
In conclusion, whether you want to be inspired and create something, or if you want to be motivated, these small little tips may help.
Little things like these, though simple, may boost your mind and get your creative gears turning again. I hope they do!
So go be inspired! Create! Paint! Draw! Take pictures!
Write a story! (This cat must be very inspired)
